Broadcom MASTERS Finalist

Congratulations, to Nikhil Patel, student at Sanford Middle, for being selected as a finalist in the first ever Broadcam MASTERS™ (Math, Applied Science, Technology, and Engineering for Rising Stars) competition.  Under the direction of his teacher, Mrs. Heidi Broksas-Weitnauer, Mr. Patel won this prestigious accolade for designing and testing a one of a kind Science Fair project titled, “DEFROST: Designing an Environmentally Friendly Recycler of the Sun's Thermal Energy.”  

The Broadcom MASTERS finalists were selected by a panel of distinguished scientists and engineers from among 1,476 applicants located in 45 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico. These finalists come from middle schools across the United States. As one of these finalists, Mr. Patel will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, DC, in October to showcase his science fair project and compete in a four-day STEM competition for awards and prizes.  He also has an opportunity to win the top education award of $25,000.
