Malavika Kannan in

National Academic Contest

Malavika Kannan, a 6th grader in SMS, was invited to participate in national finals of the Science Bee organized by the North South Foundation (NSF). The NSF is a charitable organization that organizes various academic bee contests for school children across the USA, while supporting educational scholarships in India. This year’s contest was held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on August 20. About 100 contestants from across the country, chosen based on their performance in regional contests from earlier this year, participated in the Science Bee, fending off questions on Newton’s laws and the Doppler affect. Malavika enjoyed participating in the contest and visiting the Ann Arbor campus.
